Rennert was born in Mannheim, Germany. After the Nazis came to power in 1933, his family fled to France and then in 1935 immigrated to Israel. He studied art at the Avni Institute in Tel Aviv and at the School of Art College in Ramat Hasharon (now part of the Beit Berl Academic College) and a member of the Painters’ Association since 1961. He taught painting at Tel Aviv University. During his career, he has held about 65 solo exhibitions in Israel and Europe and participated in more than 200 group exhibitions. In 2007, he presented an exhibition in Israel for the first time in 15 years.
He died in April 2009, and donated his body to science, but was later brought for burial
